Richard Alfred Newell
March 9, 1944 - January 05, 2003

At the age of 58 years, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 5, 2003. Mourned and dearly loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his father, Waller (Dick), his son Richard, his brother Waller (Randy), his aunt Vi and his uncle Alf. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Lily and his uncles George Newell, John Newell and Tom Newell. Missed and fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Jacqueline Etherington Newell, his former wife Jackie Oddie, as well as by his Newell family in England, his Davies family relations and his Etherington in-laws. Widely regarded as a legendary figure in blues music in Canada and around the world, and best known as the King Biscuit Boy, he will also be missed by his huge audience of appreciative fans, as well as by his fellow musicians across North America, among whom numbered some of his closest personal friends.
